CAJ BROKERS PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION NOTICE

 

CAJ Insurance Brokers Pte. Ltd (“CAJ”) adhere to the provisions in the Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the "PDPA") and all relevant data protection laws. CAJ’s Data Privacy and Protection Notice assist you in understanding how we collect, use, disclose and/or process Personal 
Data. 

 

Personal Data

1. As used in this Data Protection Notice (“Notice”):

“Personal Data” means data, whether true or not, about a customer who can be identified: (a) from that data; or (b) from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access.

Some examples of personal data which we may collect from you may include but is not limited to name, identification numbers such as NRIC, FIN, Work Permit, residential address, email address, telephone number, nationality, gender, date of birth, marital status, bank account/payment details and employment information. 

 

Collection, use and disclosure of personal data 

2. We generally collect your Personal Data provided to us by you directly or your authorised representative after you or your authorised representative have been notified of the purposes for which the data is collected. 

If you have supplied third party’s Personal Data to us, you represent and warrant that you have obtained the consent of such person for us to collect, use, disclose and/or process their Personal Data..

Provision of certain Personal Data to us is not mandatory.  However, you should note that the refusal to provide any Personal Data might led to us not being able to provide you the services you requested for, and/or a reduction in the services provided by us (e.g. some insurers might require certain Personal Data, and would not accept a proposal of insurance without such Personal Data being submitted thus limiting the number of insurer(s) whom we approach for quotation and risk coverage). 

3. We may collect and use Personal Data for:

  • Sourcing for products and services required by you and/or any insured person(s);
  • Processing the application for underwriting and acceptance of insurance with the insurers;
  • Handling any matters relating to the services and/or products which you and/or any insured person(s) are entitled;
  • Processing payment or credit transactions;
  • Carrying out due diligence or other screening activities;
  • Investigating fraud, misconduct, unlawful action or omission;
  • Complying to applicable laws, rules and regulations;
  • Any other incidental business purposes related to or in connection with the above.

4. We may disclose Personal Data:

  • Where such disclosure is required for performing obligations in the course of or in connection with our provision of the services requested by you, such as providing Personal Data to insurer(s) for the purpose of obtaining insurance quotations and/or insurance placement coverages;
  • To third party service providers including and not limited to (re)insurers, internal and external auditors, compliance officers, loss adjustors whom we have engaged to provide services; 
  • To regulators, police, courts/tribunals, and other relevant public authorities having jurisdiction over CAJ; 
  • To IT service providers who provide IT services to CAJ and might have incidental access to Personal Data stored on systems utilized by CAJ (e.g. Cloud storage, email servers and etc.);
  • To outside of Singapore where the recipient mentioned hereinabove may be outside of Singapore.  Generally CAJ does not actively transfer Personal Data outside of Singapore except in the case where Personal Data is stored on cloud servers which might or might not be in Singapore. 

 

Withdrawing your consent

5. The consent that you provide for the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Data will remain valid until such time it is being withdrawn by you and/or the relevant data subject in writing. 

6. Upon receipt of your written request to withdraw your consent, we shall process your request within thirty (30) business days.

7. Should you decide to cancel your withdrawal of consent, please inform us in writing.

8. Please note that withdrawing consent does not affect our right to continue to collect, use and disclose personal data where such collection, use and disclose without consent is permitted or required under applicable laws.  In addition, we are also not able to undo any actions which have already occurred prior to us receiving the withdrawal notification, e.g. we would not be able to undo a disclosure of Personal Data that is already made.  

 

Protection of personal data 

9. To safeguard Personal Data from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks, we have introduced appropriate administrative, physical and technical measures.

10. While we endeavour to take appropriate measures to protect Personal Data, You should be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. 

 

Accuracy of personal data 

11. We generally rely on Personal Data provided by you to provide the services. Please update us if there are changes to the Personal Data provided by informing our Data Protection Officer in writing or via email at the contact details provided below.

 

Retention of personal data 

12. We may retain Personal Data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws.
